The BEST Christmas Present

Do you love these reindeer socks?
They are one of my favorite things. They even have a tail on the back!

Here is Oliver's Christmas outfit. I am so happy he arrived in time to wear it!

HE'S HERE!!!

Yesterday, 12-23-08 we welcomed Oliver Thomas Lanier into the world. He was born at 2:16pm and was 7lbs., 10oz. and 22 inches long. He is a healthy boy and cute as can be. He came right in time to wear all his Christmas gear. You know you'll be seeing some of that soon.
We went to our appointment today and during the exam my water broke. We immediately came to the hospital. Once at the hospital labor really started! As the contractions grew more painful it seemed like I might not get an epidural in time. It was some kind of pain.
Then we called our dear friend Holt Evans, who set Andrew and I up on a blind date. We wouldn't have made it to this day without him. He said to call when we were at the hospital and we did. He drove from Ogden to do anesthesia for me. It was Holt who made all the difference in our birthing experience. He really was the hero of the day. Thank God for pain medication & anesthesiologists!
With the pain gone I started pushing at 12:20. Oliver was born at 2:16. The labor went well. Oliver took a little extra help to come out because he was crooked in the birth canal. His first burst of crying was wonderful, I'll never forget it! There were lots of happy tears around the room.
It was such a wonderful day. We are so blessed and praise God for the blessing of new life. We can't believe we are parents! Our hearts are full of gratitude. What a special time of year to welcome our first born son into the world. Thank you for all your love and prayers. We feel so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas full of celebrating what really matters.

No Baby Yet...

So today is Oliver's due date and as far as I can tell he is in no hurry to greet the world. We are attempting to sleep and enjoy the peace and quiet during these last few days. We'll update the blog as soon as something happens.

We just got back from our appointment with the doctor. Thankfully everything is great with me and the baby as far as they can tell. I am still on the verge of active labor so this marks over 2 weeks of wondering if he will come at any moment. We scheduled an appointment for next week in the event he hasn't come (which seems likely at this point). At that appointment they will schedule a date for induction. It looks like the induction date will be sometime after Christmas, perhaps the 29th.

Still Waiting...

Here are some pictures of the nursery. I am just dying to put it to use!

Grandma Diane stopped by to bring gifts for Oliver and visit. I can't wait until she moves back to Wilmington!

So we are still waiting on our little man to arrive. The doctor told us he would be surprised to see us back at our appointment on Monday the 15th so we'll see...

Quick little update-

We visited the Doc on Monday and she said the baby could come any moment or it could be two weeks! She said she would be "very surprised" if he didn't come before my due date of the 20th!
So, I have progressed quite a bit but I am still waiting for active labor to happen. I am walking and trying to do my best to get Oliver to make his big debut!
