In reference to the continued, mild seizures, we met with the dr. and will try a med schedule of 3 times a day instead of 2. If this doesn't work we will add on another seizure med, Keppra. We are going to try the new schedule for 1-2 weeks and then make a decision about what to do next. We would love to avoid having Oliver on 2 seizures medications so we are hoping this adjustment works.
We also (finally) got the genetic testing results. It is an answer to prayer that they found the gene deletion. So Oliver has TSC1, which, in general, tends to be less severe than having TSC2. If we have more children biologically they could be tested in utero to see if they carry this gene deletion. If the baby tested positive for TSC, we would be very closely monitored throughout the pregnancy for any signs of tumors, etc. If they found the baby did not have TSC then we could relax. Isn't it amazing what modern medicine can do? What a gift to have this information, if we move forward with getting pregnant at some point.
At this point we aren't in a rush to have another child. We feel like it is wise to wait a bit and adjust to taking care of Oliver's needs. Whenever and however we grow our family is in God's hands and we'll be praying each step of the way. We would love to have more children one day and trust that in due time this hope might become a reality. As they say, we are taking it one day at a time...
