Having a child on seizure meds has been a big adjustment for us. We are so thankful there are so many options available to Ollie. Andrew and I have never taken a medication that is nearly this important or regimented. We learned we need to reorder the medications and make sure they are in stock WAY before we need them. These aren't your run-of-the-mill antibiotics. So, it makes sense that we often have to wait a few days to get Oliver's meds. We had a scare a month or so ago on a Sat. afternoon at 5. We went to pick up the med we needed that night and it wasn't in stock...only 1 bottle of the med could be found in this entire town. It was a rather dramatic hour or so as we called pharmacy after pharmacy. Thank God we found it...lesson learned!
Today I had another "hmm...what do we do about this...never experienced this before" moment. Oliver clearly has a stomach bug and with any sick toddler that is an inconvenience as well as being messy. The hmm moment came when I realized he needs his meds in few hours. Tricky seeing as how he can't keep anything down. This is a time when TSC issues make the stakes higher than usual. So our pediatrician called in a med to help control the nausea. Andrew is on the way to get it. We are praying it will work and Oliver won't have to miss his meds tonight or in the morning. We're also praying we don't get it too! One thing is for sure, Oliver keeps us on our toes.
