Bookworm

Yesterday I took Oliver to his pediatric ophthalmologist appointment. The good news is there seems to be no damage related to Sabril (a medication he used to take). What the doctor did find is that Oliver has considerable astigmatism so...he needs glasses. Bless his little heart. The doctor said most everything Oliver sees is blurry. We are hoping the glasses might help him with some  issues we've worried about such as, pointing out faces in photos, muscle grading (for example stacking blocks) and walking down steps. If the glasses help any of these issues we'll be thrilled.

We are going today to get fitted for glasses. We think Oliver will make a super cute bookworm! Once we get the glasses we'll post some photos.

The seizures are continuing which means his development is in flux again. Oliver is speaking some but, not as much as he was in the hospital. Sigh. We have our i-pad now, so we are finding apps to try with him. So far, he has responded well to quite a few of them. We're thankful for this technology and what it has meant for many children with language delays. We hope Oliver will be one of the kids who is helped :)

Oh dear! It's always just one more thing isn't it?
Last June was when Rhett was prescribed glasses. One eye is so, so, so near sighted that everything is a blur from that eye and we were told that his brain would just shut that eye down altogether if we didn't try and correct it. So cute little blue glasses it is. He's done amazingly well with them. Maybe because he was just 3yrs?
Good luck to your adorably dimpled bookworm! He will look super cute!
