Leaving time

Last night was rough on the adults. Oliver decided to wake up and stay up at 3 AM. Andrew and I are such babies when it comes to sleep- we both need around 9 hours a night. We look forward to catching up when we get home. A good nights sleep is a precious thing, isn't it?

We saw Dr. Thiele one last time this morning. She reported what we already knew: Oliver never had a big seizure. He did have some very minor activity a few times when he was "spacing out" but, that isn't anything she is worried about right now. Basically, we feel very encouraged by the time we spent with Dr. Thiele. We feel confident that she is an excellent choice. She has the perfect combination of making you feel like her family while being a brilliant clinician. She is a rare find. We ended our time today with hugs-that is her just her style. You can't teach that kind of caring in medical school.

As of 10:30 this morning, Oliver's EEG was removed. It made us both smile to see that first flash of blond hair stick out. After we got the EEG leds off, with acetone (pee-uuu!, yes you read right, that is fingernail remover), we took him to the bath station. He got really wild in that tub and ended up giving all the adults a bath. Our nurse, who is gets an A+ from me, seemed totally amused by the wild man. Who could blame him for wanting to splash around for a bit after being in the crib for 72 hours?

Surprisingly, the MRI has is going to happen earlier than expected. We just watched Oliver go into the machine. We're praying all goes well with the anesthesia, especially because his history of asthma. We have one hour while he is in there to pack up our room and get ready to leave.

Here is another surprise. We've been offered box seat tickets to the Red Sox game tonight. Since the MRI happened earlier we might be able to make it. How cool is that?

Check your email, Oliver might have sent you one.
Oh, and this is the last time he'll ever be in purple pants!
Is that really the only color they have here?

A new friend in the playroom.

We feel extremely blessed during this trip. We have felt prayed for and supported more than ever. We thank God for the ways we have sensed His nearness, protection and provision. Our hearts are just bursting with gratitude as we wait out this last step here in Boston.

Am so glad to read that you are going home. What a relief to be in your home!
Hope the MRI went well and that the results provide much information.
Thinking of you and Oliver.
