We have had the privilege of being cared for by world-class medical staff. This is a great joy to us. We know few parents who have this luxury. We don't want to miss this great blessing that stares us in the face constantly.
I am sure it isn't PC to say a nurse is a favorite but for the sake of authenticity I am saying it. I have a favorite this week and her name is Bekha. You know when you “click” with someone and think “we'd be friends in real life.”
I don't know how to say this without sounding Christian-y but the best way I can explain what makes her special is to say “she has a servant's heart.” She does things that aren't her job, like making the bed for me. Genuine caring and empathy just oozes from her. She is everything you'd want in a nurse! You can't teach that sort of thing.
Oliver likes Bekha too. He called for her yesterday after she left. He was reaching for her saying “mama, mama” (which is what he calls everyone). I hope we get to see her again before we leave since she only works part time.
Here is a video of Oliver playing with her. It was so refreshing to see him laugh and play. His smiles are little gifts from God.
