Andrew, mom and I have all spent some time in the crib with Oliver. Technically Andrew would win the biggest baby award but, it is always funny to see the reaction of the staff when one of us is in there. It is the easiest way to keep him from ripping off the electrodes. My mom has loved the cuddle time.
Happy Surprise!!!!
We are being discharged this AM!!! Hooray!! Oliver's seizures have stopped and they have gotten what they need with the EEG. Oliver is now on Topamax (jokingly called Dopeamax). He is definitely acting doped up, but that is due to the high dose. Dr. Mikati said he would expect this reaction in the beginning and overtime hopefully Oliver will adjust to the medication. I think once we get home and get back into our normal routine we will have a better idea of how much it is truly affecting him. I'll update more later but, overall we are happy to be going home and pleased that the Topamax seems to be working so far. We have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks or so where we'll have another EEG (outpatient this time), the MRI and an appt. with Dr. Mikati. In the meantime we'll see how Oliver adjusts to the Topamax and if the seizures stay away.
As Dorothy says there is NO place like home...can't WAIT to get there!

Soooo glad you get to come home!!! Praying the Topamax works and for your new foray into the ketogenic diet. I've already been thinking of indoor activities for Oliver this summer--Children's museum, Fit 4 Fun, Aquarium, etc. We'll make sure you're not trapped in the house!
