Surprise, surprise, Oliver had his first operation (!) with a plastic surgeon (!!) on Saturday. Yep, in one year he has had a private helicopter ride, plastic surgery, 3 MRIs, 4 EEGs, 2 CT scans and other crazy tests. That is a lot of stuff for such a little boy.
So, this weekend he had a mishap with a glass bird bath that was in my grandmother's backyard. He basically pulled up on it and it shattered beneath his weight. The glass was super sharp and cut through the corner of his mouth and made a few cuts on his arms. You can't really tell from this photo but the cut on the mouth was... well, I don't want to get graphic so lets just say it was B-A-D. Not surprisingly, the cut required anesthesia and a plastic surgeon. The amount of blood at first was really frightening. We are accustomed to seizure type emergencies---not bloody emergencies. Thank the good Lord that the plastic surgeon was right around the corner from the ER. We think the doc did a great job sewing up Oliver. Thankfully, we have already come to grips with scars (he will certainly have at least one from his brain surgery). One thing is for sure, Oliver keeps our lives interesting!
While in Concord Oliver also got to ride the tractor with Papaw Tommy. He was in hog heaven. So cute!

Oh my goodness! That would have been so frightening.
These little boys just make a mom's heart stop now and then, don't they?
We've had two rounds of stiches/glue in my older son's head. I'm hoping he's done!
And Bup, well R and Oliver will be able to compare neurosurgery scars one day. It's bizarre to even write that...as it makes it all sink in.
Hope Oliver has less adventures in the future!
