Tim and Trista arriving at the hospital on Wednesday

This is Sunela who we met at the hospital. She is 24 and has had 5 brain surgeries. She grew up in Bosnia, and when she was five her family was attacked in their home. To escape, they ran towards the woods when a grenade was thrown at them. Sunela's grandmother died in the attack, and she was left with shrapnel in her head. Her sister also sustained injuries (98% spine curvature because the whole family fell on her in the blast). Sunela's parents decided to come to America when she was 11 to get better medical care for her sister. Little did they know, when Sunella turned 21, she started experiencing severe migraines as a result of shrapnel in her brain. She had a life threatening undiagnosed  hydrocephalus that would have surely been fatal if her family was not already in the states. If you don't mind, pray for Sunela. Her doctors are puzzled about what to do next. She suffers from severe migraines, and has to have a shunt put in periodically to drain fluid from her brain. She just started taking medications for seizures. We feel honored to have met her and heard her beautiful story.

She stopped by on Wednesday (she was discharged Tuesday) to see Oliver and bring him this cute little monkey. More than anyone else, she knows what Oliver is going through. You could see in their two eyes that they connected in a very special way.
