***Leaving for Operating Room any minute (8:28 AM)
We just woke up after an exhausting night. We are on the regular peds floor so we are sharing a room with a French speaking family with a very sick baby boy. The sweet little baby has been up a good bit through the night trading off with Oliver in a competition to be the loudest kid in the hospital.
The neurosurgery team came in this morning at 6:30 AM to have us sign a consent. We are waiting on the anesthesia folks at this point.
Oliver continues to be in a good mood and doesn't have a fever. These are all very good signs. It also means he probably doesn't have full blown meningitis (b/c you are much sicker!) So we feel encouraged by this.
We are exhausted by the idea of "starting the healing process all over again." At the same time we are thankful for catching this early and getting it all worked out. We have no idea how extensive the surgery will have to be. The neurosurgeon reminded us that this surgery is much less risky than the one last Monday because they aren't cutting into brain tissue. The biggest issues are if they have to remove the bone and put in a prosthetic one and the complications from opening the incision for a 3rd time.
Your prayers and love are so appreciated!!! Thanks for coming on this wild ride with us :)
